HVAC Technician Scholarship: Description: Rutt’s Mechanical Services (Commercial HVAC) is releasing a scholarship for those interested in going to HVAC tech school in Nebraska! You must have a 3.0 GPA.  This opportunity includes paid tuition with one specific requirement: you must work for Rutt’s Mechanical Services for three years after your college graduation. The scholarship application consists of the following: Google form with short answers to questions provided and If selected as a potential candidate, you will proceed through an interview process. Do the FAFSA Scholarship: Description: Two, $1,000 drawings will be held for students who have completed the FAFSA. You will need a copy of your FAFSA confirmation email, the first page of your FAFSA submission summary, and a screenshot of your Eligibility overview.  To apply, click on the following link:  Do the FAFSA.  DEADLINE: The first drawing will take place Dec. 5th and the second one will take place April 15th. Student must accept the scholarship via email within ten days of being offered it. 

FRS College Scholarship Program: Description: Foundation for Rural Service offers over $100,000 in scholarships to rural high school seniors who express an interest in returning to a rural area. This scholarship requires a signature of sponsorship from Great Plains Communications. There are a few scholarships available. To apply, click on the following link: FRS College Scholarship. Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarship: Description: Scholarship for juniors and seniors who plan to pursue a Bachelor's degree (4 year). Requirements: Be a junior or senior, plan to attend 4 years, demonstrate financial need ($100,000 or less gross family income), be involved in co-curriculuar and community service, display integrity and perserance in overcoming adveristy, at least a 2.0 GPA To apply, click on the following link: Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarship.

Phelps County Community Foundation Scholarship: Description: One app for a TON of Holdrege Scholarships! DJ's Heroes Scholarship: Description: Up to 16 students will receive a $12,000 scholarship award. This scholarship focuses on a student who has overcome obstacales and gives back to the community. Recipients will be honored and required to attend the D.J.'s Hero Awards Luncheon on April 28th. Student must be nominated by a person 21 or older. Maggie Thompson Memorial Scholarship: Description: Scholarship for students that have a disability and a desire to increase independence through education and employmeent. Funds may be use for tuition, books, assistive devices, or other materials that support educational or employment goals. Central NE Senior Golf Association Scholarship: Description: A $1,000 scholarship for senior who excels at golf. Please be sure all applicants mail in one envelope to the address below the CNSGA Golf Scholarship Application, the CNSGA Player’s Scoring Guide, two letters of recommendation, most recent resume, and a personal photo in the SAME mailing. Life Happens Scholarship: Description: The total of all scholarships combined is up to $250,000. Requirements: Be Between 17 – 24 years of age, Have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian, Will be attending college, university or trade school in the US, Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, No employees or household members employed by The Life and Health Insurance Foundation or its affiliates, Have parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to enter if under age 18 Application opens Feb. 1st. CPI Scholarships:

• Patron's Scholarships: Description: Five- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to a dependent of a CPI Patron. Patron must hold derred equit and common stock. Must attend a 2 or 4 year institution. 

• Employee Scholarship: Description: Three- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to a dependent (son/daughter) of a full time or part time employee. Employee must have worked there for at least one year.

ElevateED Foundation: Description:  Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two high schools eniors who are pursuing higher education to become a teacher in NE. Students must plan to attend a college in NE, have a 3.0 GPA,  those full-time, public-school students whose school district is a member of the Nebraska Association of School Boards qualify to apply for the scholarship. NE Fur Harvester Scholarship: Description: A $500 scholarship for a student that who hopes to become involved in a career that is related to wildlife management in general, and furbearer management in particular.  To Apply, Click on the following link: NE Fur Harvester. Phelps-Gosper Cattlemen Association Scholarship: Description: A $1,000 scholarship to a student who plans to continue his/her education at a 2 or 4 year college. In addition, you must meet one of the following eligibility requirements1. - - You must be an immediate family member of a member of the Phelps- Cattlemen Association (Nebraska Cattlemen) or an employee working for a Phelps-Gosper Cattlemen Association member firm, or a contributing business to the Phelps-Gosper Cattlemen Association.

- OR Any current FFA or 4-H member in Phelps or Gosper or surrounding counties.

- OR Any student who is involved or has an immediate family member involved in agriculture.

Phelps County 4-H Foundation Scholarship: Description: The Phelps County 4-H Foundation has established one (1), one-year scholarship of $2000 and up to five (5), one-year scholarships of $1000 that may be awarded to six students for higher education. This scholarship will be good at any university, college, or technical school.  Applicant must be a past or present member of Phelps County 4-H. Preference will be given to current members. Two letters of recommendation are also required. South Central NE Corn Growers Description: A $500 scholarship for a graduating senior who reides in Phelps, Gosper, Furnas, or Halrn counties. Student must be majoring in an Ag related career at a twor year or four year college. Lower Republic Natural Resources District Scholarships: Description: Three- $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school students. Priority will be given to those attending an NE school. Requirements: Applicant must live in Furnas, Harlan, Franklin, or Webster County and majoring in a natural resources or agriculture related field. NE Eagle Scout Scholarship: Description: Scholarship is for $3,000 annually for up to $12,000 at a four year college or $6,000 for a two year college. Student must be an Eagle Scout.  To apply, go click on the following link: NE Eagle Scout. DEADLINE: June 1

Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarship: Description: Scholarship for seniors pursuing an associate's degree or certificate. Nebraska Career Scholarship: Description: Nebraska Department of Economic Development offers a trades/technical program scholarship. The link provided will give you more information and tell what majors fall under the scholarship! This scholarship offers up to $5,000 per year at SCC, up to 3 years.  Application usually opens over summer for the next school year, so make sure to put this on your radar and check back! PROTEUS, Inc: Description: Federal program that offers education assistance to students who have earned income in agriculture area/trade.  Review and apply at https://www.proteusinc.net/what-we-do/programs/national-farmworker-jobs-program/.

Great Plains Communications Scholarships:

Great Plains Communications College Scholarship: Description: 1- $5,000 scholarship,  2- $2,5000 scholarships, and 12- $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships are for students who plan to attend a state or private college or a one or two you trade or technical school. Applicants must be a customer of Great Plains Communications. Tri Basin Natural Resources District- Dr. James Earl Kennamer Scholarship: Description: Student must have a 3.0 GPA, and planning on going to a a 2 year or four year college. Student must participate in hunting, support the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage. A copy of current hunting license is required. Students must hold a current NWTF (NE Wild Turkey Federation) membership. If you are not a current member of NWTF, visit www.nwtf.org or call (800) THE-NWTF to join. Students can request an ID number from our membership department to include with the application for membership verification purposes.Students must be involved in school extracurricular activities and demonstrate leadership among his or her peers.Students must demonstrate community leadership and/or involvement (i.e. 4-H, civic group or club, scouting, volunteer work). Two letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselors, community or clergy - do not include relatives) are required.  Students can only apply to one chapter.  Employees and National board members of the NWTF and their family members are not eligible to participate in the program. Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship: Description:This scholarship can over $6,200 a semester depending on the instution you attend. It is renewable up to 3 times a community college and 5 times at a university. 

Requirements: Live in Nebraska and meet in-state residency requirements of the college you plan to attend, Achieve at least a 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school, Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year public institution in NE,  Must have a Student Aid Index (SAI) below 10,000.  Click here for more information: Buffett Information You will have to apply for the FAFSA and submit a letter of recommendation. Gary Fisher Fine Arts Scholarship: Description: Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to a student who is involved and excels in fine arts and is planning on majoring in fine arts in a Nebraska college. Only one application per school is allowed. Student must provide two letters of recommendation with one being a school official and the other a person of his/her choice. NRCSA Scholarship: Description: 23- $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are thinking of becoming a teacher or other related education occupation- counselor or media specialist may apply. Student must be attending college in Nebraska and have a 3.5 or higher GPA and a 20 or higher ACT score. Student must provide two letters of recommendation with one being a school official and the other a person of his/her choice. Only one female and one male application per school will be accepted. Bill Lewis Scholarship: Description: Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Student must be active in NSAA activities for a minimum of three years and participating in at least 2 NSAA sponsored activities annually. To apply, click on the following link: Bill Lewis Scholarship. DEADLINE: Feb. 1

L. "Ron" Letson Acacia Leadership Scholarship Application: Description: Up to three scholarships awarded (1- $1,000, 2- $500) for an incoming male freshmen at UNL who displays excellence in academics, motivation for personal success with an interest in developing and applying leadership skills. Hastings College Community Challenge: Description: Requirements: Activity resume, 3.75 or higher GPA, ACT/SAT scores, a 500-word essay, optional video, and have applied and been admitted to Hastings College Dates: We have two Community Leadership Challenges planned for the 2025-26 academic year: Friday, December 5 (evening) through the morning of Sunday, December  7, 2025 and Second session: Friday, January 23 (evening) through the morning of Sunday, January 25, 2026. TeamMates Central Scholarship: Description: Scholarship for students that have been in TeamMates for the past three years. Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship: Description: Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. Hagan Scholarship: Description: This is a major scholarship that provides up to $7,500 each semester for four years. You also get $2,000 to spend on essential items for college such as a cell phone, computer, clothing, supplies, etc.  You haso get an HSF Schwab Brokerage Account to manage until graduation that will be $10,000 your second year, $15,000 your third year, and $20,000 your fourth year.. If you keep the requirements, your third year students with a 3.5 GPA get an all expense paid study abroad travel experience up to $8,000. 

Requirements: 

- Must attend a 4 year university 

- If awarded this scholarship, you have to work 240 hours between Jan 1, 2026-Sept 1, 2026.

- Parents' 2024 Adjusted Gross Household income must be $100,000 or lower.

- FAFSA is not a requirement unless you get selected as a finalist

American Legion Oratorical Contest Scholarship: Description: A speech contest where students have an assigned topic that they have to deliver. There is three winners in each district contest: $100 awarded upon compting at area contest and four area winners will be awarded: 1- $1,500, 1- $1,000, 1-$800, 1- $500. The state winner will receive a minimum of $2,000 for appearing in the National Oratorical Contest in MI with a chance to compete for the top prize of $25,000. For more information, see Mrs. Mach. Walter Scott Stem Scholarship: Description: This scholarship offers a fully funded undergraduate experience, covering tuition, room and board, and whole-person learning opportunities. More than a scholarship, it’s a vibrant living-learning community where rigorous academics are paired with growth in creativity, civic engagement, leadership, and wellness.

Requirements: Minimum ACT Composite score of 32 or greater and have a STEM Major. Scott Scholars candidates must plan to enroll in an approved STEM-focused academic program or major. View majors approved for Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship recipients.  Many Scott Scholars choose to double major or minor in academic programs outside of STEM. AvaCare Medical Scholarship: Description: A $1,000 scholarship- This scholarship is awarded annually to one submission that tells about an inspiring act of kindness. You can submit writing, an image, or a short video. AvaCare Medical judges will choose five to ten finalists, whose work will then be posted on our website. Voting will be open for a limited time on the scholarship page, after which the winner will be chosen by our judges based on multiple factors including, in part, the number of votes. Requirements: Achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0  Pursuing a degree in the medical field such as therapy, nursing, medicine, nutrition, laboratory science, dentistry, health law, etc. Although all students with the above criteria are welcome to apply for this scholarship, preference will be given to students with a physical disability.
