Teachers identify which of the following traits consistently apply to each student while interacting with curriculum and learning objectives. Recommendations are completed each spring in April, ensuring that teachers are able to evaluate students accurately. Students are considered to consistently exude the following traits when they are indicative of their normal behavior at least 80 percent of the time.
For each trait that a student is identified as having portrayed in the classroom consistently, a student is given one point. A total between 0 and 2 is considered "not recommended", a score between 3 and 6 is considered "partially recommended" and a score between 7 and 9 is considered "recommended for placement in Enrichment Eagles." Please remember that each criterion has equal weight and not receiving the highest score does not automatically exclude a student from invitation to Enrichment Eagles.
The characteristics teachers consider for each student include:
Student shows a high degree of interest and motivation which is demonstrated through class participation and classwork.
Student works well independently. Student seeks help only when necessary.
Student is creative. The student can use previously taught methods and/or strategies and apply these to novel situations.
Student responds positively to challenging situations.
