How is varsity decided?

Varsity races are for 7 people. All student race times are tracked. The average of the last 3 races will be used to determine the 7 fastest times for boys and girls. Students absences from races and practice may lose their spot on the varsity team. Varsity may change from race to race.

What is a high intensity practice?

Varsity runners will be given a certain pace to run a certain distance repeatedly. These paces will push runners past what they have been running. These practices are very specific and intended to be quite challenging. Any open runners who would like to join are welcome. They will also be given difficult paces to run, but tailored to their ability.

Most races begin with girls varsity, usually followed by boys varsity half an hour later, then girls open, and finally boys open.

How are races scored?

Varsity races are scored by adding up the top 5 places for each team. A perfect score is 15 = 1st place + 2nd place + 3rd place +4th +5th.
