Did you know NASA studies more than just rockets and stars?
NASA scientists study what's happening on Earth too!
As seasons are connected to what the Earth is doing in space,NASA climatologists and phenologists (people who study how the world changes season to season) are out in the field learning new things and taking data in journals and log books.
You can do what they are doing right at home!
You can be an astronomer!
Create a journal trackingmoon phases, constellations, meteor showers and shooting stars.
You can be a climate scientist!
Create a journal tracking precipitation (rain, snow, hail) or daily temperatures. Be sure to take the temperature in the same locationas close to the same time each day.
You can be a phenologist!
Create a journal tracking how all these things relate based on your observations.
For example, it’s colder each day in October and birds are flying over heading south!
Remember! Your journals don’t need to be fancy or expensive. A scientist’s first tool is making observations. Take good notes and you are on your way!
