"Last fall I had a large solo exhibition in which I made a larger than life-sized goddess I called "My Gaia" (Gaia is the Earth Mother Goddess in Greek Mythology). I also "installed" a special design using all sorts of natural materials around her base. That means I laid the objects very carefully in a special design, directly on the floor for people to enjoy and help them love natural objects as much as I do!
For my show, I also created printed fabric banners by using real leaves I gathered in my woods and laid them directly on the fabric. Then I placed a layer of very thin plastic covering the leaves, folded and rolled it all up into a small bundle and bound it tightly with string. Finally, I steamed the bundles in a kettle for several hours. The tannins in the leaves "printed" a design on the fabric. See the banners in my photos.
Rocks are another natural material I love! Oh, I also love to make jewelery. I've included some of my rock necklaces. I use very thin copper wire and weave a small net to hold the stone. I add a copper ball chain to wear.
These are just a few of the works of art that are inspired by my love of nature and created from nature's gifts."
