Miss Lucas
In the last three weeks of school, students will be finishing up NWEA testing. Afterwards, we will continue to read The Giver and complete the corresponding chapter comprehension checks. The quarter 4 final will test their ability to find the meaning of words in context, differentiate between internal and external conflicts, make inferences, and identify a theme.

Our specials here at CMS offer several opportunities to explore many interests! We have art, general music, band/choir/orchestra, health, physical education, foreign languages, college and careers, and computers. Some of these classes are only offered in 8th grade and are for high school credit (foreign language, college and careers).
Our specials teachers on team Ball State are Mr. Nuzzo (Music), Mr. Prow (Physical Education) and Mrs. McCrovitz (Resource).
If you are interested in a certain specials class for next year, be sure to pay attention to registering for classes next year, and speak with Mrs. Lamb!

Often times, parents will ask how they can help their student become more successful in class and show growth on standardized assessments.
Read!
The number one thing a student can do to become a better student of English is to read in their free time everyday. Studies show that a student who reads 20 minutes per day will score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests.
Edmentum!
Edmentum is a program that Duneland has purchased to assist students in closing learning gaps in Reading, Language, and Math. Students get targeted instruction on the specific standards that they have historically missed on standardized tests. Students have unlimited amounts of work to do on Edmentum – even when they finish 8th grade standards it will send them to 9th grade. The more they do, the better!
Get More Math
Students are required to get at least 30 points of Get More Math each week. This is a grade each week. This program allows students to review material from the entire year as well as practice current content.
