Take a look at what we are learning this month!

๐Ÿ“ˆ MATH 7:

Students are heading back to geometry. They will be working with angles, triangles, prisms, and cylinders. We will investigate volume to determine which boxes of cereal hold more cereal.



๐Ÿ—บ WORLD GEOGRAPHY 7:

In our final quarter for the 2021-2022 school year, students in Miss Holt's World Geography class will be diving into the geography, history, and current events of Japan and the Koreas. Within our unit, students will learn why Japan is known as the "Land of the Rising Sun," the role and effects that Japan had in the second World War, and tenets of Japanese culture like anime and manga. Students will also be receiving their own set of chopsticks this quarter. Students will not learn how to use them by practicing with foods like marshmallows or chips, but they will also learn about the history of one of the oldest eating utensils known to the world. After our Japan and the Koreas unit, students will go through a mini-unit about the "Land Down Under" - Australia - to end our year!


๐Ÿงฌ SCIENCE 7:

We have started wrapping up Cells & Cell Theory, & Cell Division. Students have been able to use microscopes & other activities to tell the difference between plant and animal cells. They have observed how cells help perform functions for the body.

We will move back into Earth Science by investigating the Geologic Time Scale. This will look into different time periods of history by observing different fossil records and rock strata.

After Geologic Time, we will be looking at Renewable & Nonrenewable resources. This will allow students to dive into Ecology.

๐Ÿ“šENGLISH 7:


Students are working on persuasive essays and reviewing concepts such as claims, counterclaims, rebuttals, etc. We will begin the practice ILEARN on April 11 for English and math, and will begin taking the ELA ILEARN on April 19 and 20. We are also beginning a dystopian novel titled The Giver, soon.




๐Ÿ“ˆ HONORS MATH 7:

Students are heading back to geometry. They will be working with angles and triangles. After that, we will be heading back to algebra and working with systems of equations.



๐Ÿ“šHONORS ENGLISH 7:

Honors English students are also working on different types of writing, including persuasive essays, and reviewing concepts such as claims, counterclaims, rebuttals, etc. We will begin the practice ILEARN on April 11 for English and math, and will begin taking the ELA ILEARN on April 19 and 20. These students will also begin a novel this month.

Student of the Quarter:

This student has done a tremendous job the third 9 weeks of school. She is respectful and brings joy to other students and teachers. Her work ethic in the classroom and interaction with peers is truly outstanding. We are pleased to announce that the student nominated is:

  • Please remind your child to charge their iPad every night. Students complete many of their assignments on the iPad, so it is important that it is ready for them to use the entire day.

  • Students should continue bringing basic supplies, such as paper, pencils, folders, etc. to classes.
