Take a look at what we are learning this month!

MATH 7:

We are learning about how to graph a line and write its equation. We are working with slope-intercept form and the kids are able to graph an equation in slope-intercept form. We will work on writing an equation from a graph. NWEA testing will be May 11-May 13. After, we will continue working with tables to graph an equation.

FINAL EXAM: 5/18



World Geography:

Students will study the geography, history, and current events of Japan and the Koreas. Within our unit, students will learn why Japan is known as the "Land of the Rising Sun," the role and effects that Japan had in the second World War, and tenets of Japanese culture like anime and manga. After our Japan and the Koreas unit, students will go through a mini-unit about the "Land Down Under" - Australia - to end our year!



FINAL EXAM: 5/20


SCIENCE 7:

We finished our unit on fossils and are now studying Ecology. Students will study natural, renewable/non-renewable resources as well as the impact each has on the environment.


FINAL EXAM: 5/24




ENGLISH 7:

We have begun the dystopian novel, The Giver by Lois Lowry and will continue through the end of the quarter.

FINAL EXAM: 5/19



Honors Math 7:

This month the honors kids will be learning how to solve systems of equations. We just finished solving them by graphing, and we will work on solving them with elimination and substitution.

FINAL EXAM: 5/18


Honors English 7:


We have begun the dystopian novel, The Giver by Lois Lowry and will continue through the end of the quarter.

Reminders:

  • Student Support is available on Monday and Friday mornings; get a pass from any core teacher.

  • PEER TUTORING is available each week! Ask your teacher for details.

  • Please remind your child to charge their iPad every night. Students complete many of their assignments on the iPad, so it is important that it is ready for them to use the entire day.

  • Students should continue bringing basic supplies, such as paper, pencils, folders, etc. to classes.

  • If you have any extra, teachers would greatly appreciate tissue donations! Sniffling season is here!
