Hello 8th graders! Welcome back to a wonderful year full of learning about history! Enjoy each day and know that you are surrounded by support. Try your best in everything you do, stay positive, have fun, and keep smiling! You’ll do great! We will start the year by studying European exploration of the Americas. In Honors English 8, we will start the year with a review of our RACECES writing model and read some short stories to review the elements of fiction. This kicks off our first weeks back to school and sets everyone up for the literature and writing to come this semester. I also like to review punctuation and capitalization at the beginning of the year so that students can follow the rules in their writing.

In Science 8, students are concluding their study of measurement and scientific methods. Students will then proceed to a unit about the water cycle and weather. We will be doing various hands-on activites that relate to those topics. Some of the activities will require us to be outside, so I am hoping for nice September weather and plenty of sunshine.
