What are we learning in April?
Math 8 just finished up learning about Transformations before spring break! In April, students will learn about inequalities! We will learn how to solve, graph, and write multi-step inequalities!
ILearn will also take place in April, so we will be able to show off all the hard work we've done in Math 8!
This month in history class, students will dive into the Industrial Revolution by working on an engaging project that explores how new inventions and factories transformed society. We will also study key reformers who worked to improve education, labor conditions, and social justice. As we move toward the Civil War era, students will examine major events like the Kansas-Nebraska Act and Bleeding Kansas to understand the growing tensions between the North and South. Additionally, we will highlight the efforts of prominent abolitionists and the Underground Railroad, learning about the brave individuals who fought against slavery. We look forward to great discussions and critical thinking as we explore these important moments in American history!

In Honors English 8, students will begin the sentence diagramming unit, read some poetry, and start the final novel after state testing ends. Our final novel of the year will be The Outsiders. This novel has been a favorite of students in past years, and many students will be able to discuss the novel with their parents/guardians who also read it in middle school. Stay Gold!

In English 8, students will cover iLearn prep strategies at the beginning of the month, along with poetry selections. We will be taking iLearn in April and finishing the year with The Outsiders. Parents/guardians may enjoy revisiting the novel with their student if you read it in middle school.

In Science 8, throughout the month of April students will be completing a unit about the growth of cells and organisms. Within our study, we will be learning about how plants and animals develop and grow. We will be doing various hands-on activities and will have a least two assessments by the conclusion of the unit.

Algebra 1 just finished our mini unit over probability before spring break! Students will now be learning about graphing quadratics in different forms. We will explore standard, vertex, and intercept form.
Towards the end of April, after ILearn students will learn about the Quadratic Formula!
In Biology, students will be working on the module, "Disease". Throughout the unit, we will be learning about the cell cycle, and how cell growth is regulated. Additionally, we will learn about how when this process is disrupted, cancer can result. Students will have an assessment at the conclusion of this module. Additionally, the ILEARN Biology test is scheduled to be administered on May 7.

Students should always have a charged iPad, as well as their charger, at school each day.
Headphones of any kind are not to be worn in the building unless permitted by the teacher.
Students should keep their phone put away in lockers at all times.
