This training is now compulsory for staff, volunteers and teachers assisting in a school canteen.
This training is provided free for WA School Canteen Association Inc. (WASCA) members – WASCA has a FoodSafe® subscription which provides FREE access to the online training for members only. Simply email them with your name, school name and role (e.g. canteen supervisor, canteen volunteer, home economics teachers) and they will send you a unique access code and instructions – wasca@education.wa.edu.au
In most cases a parent volunteer exemption from a WWCC can only be used by a person who is a ‘parent’, as defined in the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004. This includes a stepparent, de facto partner, prospective adoptive parent, and a person who has legal responsibility for the long term or day to day care and welfare and development of the child. If a grandparent, sibling, or any other relative (who does not have legal responsibility) is volunteering in child-related work, they must apply for a WWC Check.
WWC Check Application Forms are currently provided in hardcopy format and are available from authorised Australia Post outlets. Fees are $11.00 - for volunteers, exc of GST.
Please discuss with us about reimbursement of these fees if wish to volunteer in our canteen on a regular basis.
