Mr.Vang's Algebra 1

Class overview

The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades. Because it is built on the middle grades standards, this is a more ambitious version of Algebra I than has generally been offered. The critical areas, called units, deepen and extend understanding of linear and exponential relationships by contrasting them with each other and by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend, and students engage in methods for analyzing, solving, and using quadratic functions. The Mathematical Practice Standards apply throughout each course and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. (Achieve the Core)

My goal is to see all my students on that stage in 4 years.

Our Pride n Joy!

About me.

I have been teaching for 14 years now all with Fresno Unified and will be finishing up my 6th year at Duncan. I am married to my beautiful wife Nhia with 3 children. The oldest is Ryas, whom is a senior at Clovis West. Madison, our middle child is a 4th grader and the youngest is 3 years old, Elijah. I went through Fresno's public school system and graduated from Roosevelt High School. I attended Fresno City College and transferred to Fresno State to complete my BA degree/Teaching Credentials. I know and understand how it is to be a student going through FUSD and now a teacher. I want all my students to be the best that they can be.

I wanted to be a teacher because I believe that education is the key to opening the doors of the future.

I am excited that we will be learning brand new materials in the second semester and finishing up strong.
