About the Teacher

Dear Community,

Thank you for joining me in our journey. I am so excited to be teaching second grade this year, and getting to know everyone who is a part of our success. Three months after graduating UC Berkeley with a Sociology degree, I jumped happily into teaching. I was a substitute teacher for 3 years before I completed my credential and started my own classroom. I have taught second grade and kindergarten full time.

When I teach, I teach from my heart. I love each and every one of my students with a passion, and want them to feel safe, confident, happy, and accomplished. I believe every one of us can do whatever we put our minds to. I believe that no matter how difficult something can be, every one of us can fight through it and succeed. Life has taught me to never give up, and to find beauty in even the hardest times, because there is always something. There is always peace, positive vibes and light surrounding us. I want my students to feel this every day they come in to my room.

Yes, teaching is my favorite thing to do, but my life is so full of things I love. I love my husband, who makes me laugh and gives me a reason to smile. I love my family, who supports me through everything. I love Canada, my home until I was 5. I love to read books, paint, and take walks in nature. I love to travel. I am a poet, and love to write. I love flowers, especially roses. I love sunsets and stars in the night sky. I love learning languages-- I can only speak English and Gujarati fluently, but I can understand and (kind of) speak Spanish and Urdu. I can read and write in Arabic. If you speak any of these, please let me know, and help me practice!

What do you enjoy? What are your goals in life? Please feel free to share. Let's grow together!

Much love to all,

Ms. Nakhuda
