Welcome back to a brand new school year! It is a pleasure to be your child’s 5th-grade teacher. I look forward to getting to know everyone and building relationships at FES in Room F101. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of your child’s learning development. I want to assure you that I plan on dedicating my time to teaching and growing your children, while building their sense of security and stability.
My name is Vanessa Leong, and I am thrilled to begin my first year teaching at Frederiksen Elementary. Prior to this, I spent six wonderful years teaching at Amador Elementary within the Dublin Unified School District, where I had the privilege of working with diverse and inspiring students.
Before joining the Dublin community, I taught for four years in the New Haven Unified School District, where I taught 4th grade and served as a reading intervention specialist. My teaching experience spans from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 5th grade, providing me with a broad understanding of the developmental needs at each grade level.
Additionally, I spent five years as a Transitional Kindergarten teacher in the Ocean View School District in Huntington Beach while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Reading Education at California State University, Fullerton. I also had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade, as well as Physical Education, in the Santa Clara Unified School District while completing my Multiple Subject Credential at San Jose State University.
Beyond the classroom, I have been actively involved in coaching wrestling at Dublin High School for the past five years, and at the middle school level at Fallon, Wells, and Cottonwood. I am passionate about supporting students both academically and athletically. In addition, I teach a DPIE after-school class called “Mindfulness in Movement,” which combines yoga and mindfulness techniques to help students build focus and resilience.
I am committed to creating a positive, nurturing environment where each child feels valued and supported in their growth. I believe that open and consistent communication is key to your child’s success, and I will keep you informed through email, Google Classroom, ClassDojo, parent conferences, biweekly updates, progress reports, and report cards.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at leongvanessa@dublinusd.org with any questions or concerns. I aim to respond within 48 hours, if not sooner.
Thank you for your partnership and support. I look forward to a fantastic year ahead and the opportunity to grow alongside your child.
