In Dublin City Schools, we believe that all students deserve a mathematical learning experience centered around communication, collaboration, thinking and problem solving.
4th Grade Units:
Build fluency with multi-digit multiplication, and develop an understanding of dividing.
Build on understanding of fraction equivalence from grade 3, addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators, and multiplication of fractions by whole numbers.
Understand that geometric figures can be analyzed and classified based on their properties, such as having parallel sides, perpendicular sides, particular angle measures, and symmetry.
A K-12 Dublin City Schools science education engages all students in critical thinking and problem solving as they experience science and engineering. We believe that students can become scientifically literate citizens equipped with the knowledge and skills demanded by the ever-changing future, whether in the workforce or higher education.
4th Grade Units: Changes in landforms and matter, energy and environment changes, and fossils and changes to the earth's surface.
The Dublin City Schools K-12 Social Studies educational experience will allow students to see how social studies can be integrated into different disciplines and is relevant to many aspects of life. There is a greater emphasis on problem based/inquiry learning rather than just the memorization of historic dates, people, and events with a focus on the connections between current events and the past in order to solidify relevancy for students.
4th Grade Units: Foundations of U.S. History are laid as students study prehistoric Ohio cultures, early American life, the U.S. Constitution, and the development and growth of Ohio and the United States. Students begin to understand how ideas and events from the past have shaped Ohio and the United States today.
