Purple Star leaders hosted an area at the Dublin America 250 Memorial Day Picnic to remind all the meaning of Memorial Day. They displayed flags and projects related to Dublin service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. They also had a craft station for guests to fill out thank you cards, make goody bags, and paper poppies which will be shared with local veterans.
On Saturday May 16th Purple Star leaders helped host the Irreverent Warriors Silkie Hike! This amazing organization brings veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent Veteran suicide. Purple Star members provided goody bags, coffee, breakfast, snacks, and other items for those participating in the hike. They also created posters to welcome them back. Thank you to Sunny Street Cafe, Mrs. DeBenedictis, Mrs. Jackson, and Mr. Martin for their support.
Thank you to Mr. Boyer for helping grill of the Purple Star BBQ. This event allowed Purple Star members and veterans to enjoy lunch together.
Purple Star leaders celebrated military families all April long with a breakfast, ice cream social, luncheon, and Military Appreciation Baseball Game. Thank you to Sunny Street Cafe and the Irish Baseball boosters for making these event possible.
Purple Star leaders were invited to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum to meet and talk with TWO recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta and Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha.
Purple Star leaders held their 4th Annual Military Appreciation Basketball Game and dinner. We were HONORED to host over 15 veterans and their families for a spaghetti dinner, pregame recognition, and varsity basketball game. Thank you to Hot Mess catering for providing the amazing dinner as well as Coach Anderson and Boosters leader Ian Brown for all their efforts in making it a special evening.
