Are you having trouble with reading at home?
Change it up by using some of the ideas below for making your reading more creative!
Be creative with your reading!
Stage your reading environment. Make it fun! Build indoor tents, create a reading "spot," etc. Create a sign to hang on your door that says, "Do not disturb, I'm reading."
Make reading a daily routine. If you make reading a daily habit, it will become a part of the day instead of forcing it into your schedule.
Keep books in a spot where you can find them. Books on bookshelves become furniture and decoration! Put them where you read: on your chair, next to your bed, in the car, make a bag that can hold your books, etc.
Listen and/or make your own audiobooks. Listening to books on tape during car trips is a great way to keep reading! Creating your own audiobook for a friend or family member is an excellent way to keep practicing your fluency and expression!
What do I read? Reading doesn't always have to be books- read magazines, newspapers, signs at the zoo...etc. Check out the Online Reading Hyper Doc and the Educational Podcasts for Kids for fun reading ideas.
