A Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff, and parents for the benefit of the school and its students.

Karrer Middle School Student Council is a student led organization that provides leadership and service to Karrer Middle School. Students who are elected to this position are organized, driven, and have an interest in learning the basics of student service government. KMS Student Council members are seen as the leaders of the KMS student body.

The Karrer Middle School Student Council will be made of 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade KMS students - Hybrid and RLA.

KMS students who apply to our KMS Student Council and have been accepted are Student Council Representatives.

Responsibilities of the representatives:

- Attend meetings on a monthly basis

- Represent the students of Karrer MIddle School

- Help with and promote our events and community service

- And more!

This is a commitment of your time, and you should only apply for Student Council if you want to:

• Work with other students

• Develop personal leadership skills

• Plan school events

• Promote school spirit

• Conduct service projects

• Communicate all upcoming fundraisers and events to your assigned representative class

The KMS Student Council 8^th grade cabinet and 7^th grade cabinet will typically meet the first Thursday of each month.

The KMS Student Council Cabinets and Student Council Representatives will meet together typically on the third Thursday of each month.

The calendar of meetings, events, and community service projects will be posted in the KMS Student Council Schoology class.

On our calendar, KMS Student Council Meeting means the meeting is for ALL Student Council representatives and Cabinet members. A student is a representative once they have been accepted into our Student Council. Students who are accepted to be representatives will receive access to our KMS Student Council Schoology class.

We also may have an extra meeting in a month due to a special project we need to complete.

The meetings will begin at 4:00 PM through Google Meet. The link is available in the KMS Student Council Schoology class and in the KMS Student Council Cabinet Schoology class.

Student Council is a fun and rewarding way to be involved in the planning of events and community service at Karrer Middle School!

Submitting an application indicates you are willing to commit to the responsibilities of being a member of the KMS Student Council. It is a personal promise that your behavior will represent the best of Karrer Middle School at all times. This also means you understand the time commitment with meetings and service time. Anyone who misses two or more meetings or service time may be removed from the KMS Student Council.

Once students been selected to be a Student Council representative, they will receive access to our KMS Student Council Schoology class. Students selected for KMS Student Council Cabinet positions will also receive access to their Schoology class.
