In Dublin City Schools, we believe that all students deserve a mathematical learning experience centered around communication, collaboration, thinking and problem solving.
Reading workshop is a time for students to read independently, enjoy a class read aloud, as well as learn something new while applying it in their reading and writing.
Throughout the school year, students will focus on three main writing pieces: Personal narratives, informational writing, and opinion writing. Students will work individually and with their peers to make their writing more complete through the use of writing drafts, editing, and including detail.
Word study may consist of students focusing on a particular feature (e.g. igh) at one time as well as practice spelling words correctly while paying close attention to spelling patterns. Word study should enhance students' reading and writing skills.
