Dechert: In science class, students are studying cycles of matter, abiotic and biotic factors in an ecosystem, and limiting factors in an ecosystem. We will look at the periodic table and simple electrical circuits before the school year ends. We are in the home stretch and want to finish strong.

Reading Workshop- Students are thinking about different literary elements with their independent reading and conferencing in groups about them. The discussion has been great and the level of thinking and insight continues to improve. Students will be developing a short book review to present to the class. This will give students some experience and practice formally speaking in front of a group.
Writing Workshop- ARGUMENT WRITING!! Students have chosen different topics to research and take a side to defend. Students have finished developing a claim/thesis, reasons with evidence, counterclaim and rebuttal, and a conclusion. Students will then be giving speeches to argue their position on the topic.
Word Study - 5 A Day, Root words- ten/tens, path/pati/pass
MAP testing will be Thursday and Friday (5/4-5)
Reading & Writing Workshop - Happy Last Week of School! The students will wrap up LA with their FAVORITE BOOK OF THE YEAR ceiling tile as an upcoming gift to new 7th grade readers. We can't wait for them to look to the ceiling for books suggestions. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We made it!

We are wrapping up our last unit of the year, Chapter 21, Europe Explorers and Trade with a test on Wednesday.
The students have done a great job this year and will be well prepared for 8th grade.
Each student will also write a letter to himself or herself that will be mailed back when he or she graduates high school.
