A Note from Mrs. Jamail...✏️

Hello Walnut Families!

Regular and punctual attendance is fundamental to a student's academic progress, social development, and ultimate success. When students are absent from school, it creates significant challenges that affect more than just the individual.  Missed instruction leads to increased academic stress and makes the process of catching up difficult.  Absenteeism directly affects the school's overall attendance rate and can impact school funding and resources.

Attendance is officially recorded each day at 8:45 a.m. Any student not physically present in the school building at this time will be marked as absent. It is vital to understand that all absences contribute to a reduction in our school's total attendance rate.  Our attendance goal is 96%. Our attendance rate for the first nine weeks of the school year was 95%, and we did not meet our essential goal.  Historically, our attendance is the highest in the first nine weeks of school.

I am asking that families partner with our school to recognize the importance of consistent school attendance when planning and scheduling vacations, medical appointments, and other commitments.  A copy of the academic calendar is included in every weekly newsletter for your planning convenience.  Every school day holds significant value and contributes to a student's educational trajectory.  Every day counts!

Thank you!
