What is DSHS Stream Team?
The DSHS Stream Team is a group of trained community scientists who participate in water quality monitoring at various waterways throughout Dripping Springs. Through consistent monitoring activities, educational outreach and volunteer work, we act as a guardian and alarm system in the event of waterway issues, contribute to our community, protect Texas water resources and participate in field science with applications and experience that can follow us into our future careers.
We are affiliated with the Texas Stream Team at Texas State University. Data we collect contributes to a larger body of research at the university, local, state and federal levels. We also work with the Colorado River Watch Network and Lower Colorado River Authority to contribute to their data collection, monitoring and stewardship activities.
