According to DSISD policy, only the Rank-in-Class Average (RICA) appears on a student's transcript. The RICA represents the cumulative weighted numerical semester average grades for core subjects, including English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Advanced Placement courses from other subjects. It’s important to note that LOTE courses (excluding AP level) are not included in the RICA calculation. Additionally, courses taken in middle school will not factor into the RICA, even if high school credit is granted. The RICA offers a comprehensive view of a student’s performance in core and advanced courses, allowing for a more accurate assessment in comparison to peers. This average is essential for determining a student's rank in class.
The Grade Point Average (GPA) for DSHS students is calculated on a 100-point scale, with the highest possible GPA set at 115 due to only reporting the weighted GPA on their transcript.
Rank in Class Average (RICA) Information can be found on page 50 of the DSISD Student Code of Conduct
