This monthly newsletter is your gateway to all the exciting happenings in our school library. Inside, you'll find updates on new book arrivals, upcoming events, student highlights, and resources to support young readers and their families. Our goal is to foster a love of reading, encourage curiosity, and create a space where every student feels inspired to learn and grow through books.

CL&I Lessons

This month, we are excited to welcome our DSE tigers to the CL&I! Each class will visit the library, tour the space, enjoy a story together and talk about how we borrow and care for library books. Our younger students will be reading a story called Don't Think of Tigers and our older students will enjoy Overdue. Students will be invited to check out a book for the first time this year! This month, we will focus on finding books that are a good fit for us as readers, taking care of those books and we will learn all about reading challenges! Students will also begin setting up our DSE Hydroponic Garden!

PK and Kinder students are invited to check out 1 book per visit.

1st and 2nd graders are invited to check out up to 2 books per visit.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to check out up to 3 books per visit.

MakerSpace

Our students will also have a chance to visit the MakerSpace with their classroom teachers for the first time this month! A MakerSpace is a special place where you can build, create, and explore your ideas! It’s like a classroom filled with fun tools, materials, and supplies—like paper, glue, cardboard, LEGO, robots, and even computers. In a MakerSpace, you can use your imagination to make things, solve problems, and learn by doing hands-on projects. It’s okay to try, make mistakes, and try again! We are excited to see what our tigers create in this space! This month, our students will learn or review the materials available in this space, as well as the safety rules and expectations.

Books & Breakfast at DSE

We’d love for you to join us for Books & Breakfast at DSE!
Come enjoy a light breakfast and spend some quality time reading with your child before the school day begins.

Breakfast will be provided by our amazing DSE PTA. It’s a cozy way to start the day—together with stories and smiles!

Please click here to RSVP. This will allow us to have plenty of food for everyone, and we can have your visitor badge printed before you arrive, so you can spend more time reading!

September Reading Challenge
