Hello, Tiger Families!

Another great week is in the books at Cypress Springs! Our Tigers are learning, growing, and settling into the routines of school. We are so proud of the energy and effort they bring each day and are excited for all that’s ahead!

• Dress Code: Please refer to the Student Handbook for the District Dress Code for all ages. 

  • • Notable for Elementary: The student’s back, bottom, chest, and stomach must be covered. 

    • If a student's clothing isn't following the dress code we give them clothes to borrow from the nurse's office. 

• Toys at School: Parents, we ask for your support in keeping toys at home unless your child’s teacher has specifically requested otherwise. 

• Nurse Clinic Health Screenings: CSES will be conducting screenings (vision, hearing, spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans) on Monday 10/5 and Tuesday 10/6. Parents have an option to opt out of these screenings in writing to Nurse Amelia by October 2. See more information below about the screenings. 

• Cypress Sprinters is Back! Students and families are invited to start their Friday morning moving with us on the track!

  • • • PK–1st grade: A parent/guardian MUST stay with their student.

      • 2nd–5th grade: Students may attend on their own.

Please remind your Sprinters to always be safe and respectful while out on the track. We’d also love a few parent volunteers to help Coach Overby hold the iPads we use to track laps! If you’re interested in helping, please email Coach Overby @ elizabeth.overby@dsisdtx.us

• UIL: UIL Registration ends tomorrow 9/18! Register here. See more information below!!!  

• Personal Devices (ex. phones, watches): Students shall not use a personal communication device, including a cell phone, or other electronic device on school property during the school day and shall store the device in accordance with the method of storage established by the district. To promote more focused learning environments, reduce distractions in the classroom, and promote positive peer interactions, students shall leave personal communication devices at home or keep devices powered off and securely stored away (in backpacks) during the school day. (Student Code of Conduct Handbook) 

• STEAM APPRECIATION:  PTA's STEAM Appreciation Day is coming up on September 25th. PTA will be looking for parent volunteers to play math games with classes throughout the day!

Student attendance is CRITICAL for student success. Regular school attendance is essential, and absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s education. The student and parent should avoid unnecessary absences. Please do not send your student(s) to school sick. But please DO send your student(s) to school when they aren't sick. Use the school calendar as you plan your family's vacation time. Avoid pulling students out of school for vacation!

  • Our critical funding time is 8:45am each day. That is the time of day that we take attendance for funding purposes. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD IN SCHOOL AT 8:45am EVERY DAY!! Avoid appointments at that time.
