This is to inform you that your student has been identified to receive services provided by the DEEP program at your school. This program is designed to provide students with challenging activities and curriculum that will enrich their traditional classroom experience. The purpose of the DEEP program is to provide complex, in-depth, rigorous learning opportunities tied directly to student strengths, interests and abilities.

DEEP stands for Davis Enhanced Education Programs.  DEEP is a pull-out group for High-Ability Learners.  Students have been coming to my class in small groups where we work on projects that challenge them to think in deep and complex ways. DEEP was previously known as SEM.

DEEP is designed to be a revolving door model.  Students may move in and out of DEEP throughout the year to best meet the needs of the highest learners in each grade.  DEEP should not be looked at as a reward or a punishment, it’s simply need-based.
