Service Opportunities
American Red Cross Blood Drive - Held on October 7th from 2:00-7:00 PM at the Sand Springs building. Everyone who donates is helping hospitals provide life-saving blood to patients in need and will receive a $10 gift card! Please click on this link to sign up.
Donate Fabric - If anyone would like to donate fabric (not smaller than 18x22 inches) to the myHometown sewing class, please drop off donations to Tara Hansen's home (3698 W 925 N). The requested fabrics are: cotton, cotton-poly, muslin, flannel, and felt squares. They would also happily accept warm and natural quilt batting.
Temple Cleaning - We have the special opportunity to clean the Layton temple each month. This is a great way to serve and feel the spirit of the temple in a unique way. Thank you for being willing to serve! Please click on this link to sign up. Must be an endowed member with an active temple recommend. The assigned dates in October are the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 27th.
Justserve.org - Please see the newsletter below for some opportunities to serve or visit the website justserve.org. The National Day of Service was a great success! Our stake had over 211 volunteers, with a total of 316 hours of service, and 10 different projects. Additionally, four carloads of donations were given to Safe Harbor.
Expanded Senior Missionary Opportunities for Single Members - The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles have expanded missionary opportunities for the single members of the church. Single men ages 40+ may be called as full-time senior missionaries if they do not have dependent children living at home. These individuals will be considered for service in select assignments in the area, mission offices, family history, and other roles for which they have unique life experiences (i.e., medical, legal, etc.). Missionary assignments available for single women ages 40+ have been expanded to include select assignments within family history, visitor centers, historic sites, area and mission offices, and employment centers.
Layton YSA Stake Institute program- This is for every YSA between the ages of 26-35, held Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:00 PM, followed by a full dinner. See the flyer below.
