Class Policies
Math 7 Mrs. Nardone
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Hello, my name is Mrs. Nardone and I am very excited to be your child’s math teacher for the 2023-24 school year. I have a few procedures that I believe will help the learning experience.
1) All math is to be done in pencil.
2) The notes for this class are distributed during the first week of school. Each student will need a 1.5 or 2 inch 3 ring binder for the class notes. The notebook is the main study guide and resource (text) for Math 7.
Please remind your child to be responsible with the math binder. If it is slammed inside the locker or stepped on, it will break. DO NOT take it to lunch!
Each student is responsible for bringing the notebook to class daily and keeping it up to date with the correct information.
3) Homework will be assigned almost every night and will be posted on the Google Classroom along with other class announcements such as upcoming tests and quizzes. The student is responsible for making up all homework assignments when absent from class. The time period to make up the assignment is equal to the day(s) the student is absent from school. Exceptions can be made in cases of long term illness.
Each assignment is worth 3 points
Homework worksheets can be downloaded from the Google Classroom in case they become lost.
Parents can receive alerts concerning homework and other class information via the Google Classroom. Please make sure to add your email address at the end of this letter.
4) Grading is a point based system, not percentages. Grades can be checked on CSIU, NOT THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM, it is updated weekly. Points are achieved by the following:
Tests
Quizzes - some which may be unannounced
Homework
Homework will be checked and graded
Each homework assignment will be assigned points
It must be complete or lose the percentage that is incomplete.
it must be completed by the due date
It doesn’t have to be correct, just best effort.
IXL Assignments
each section assigned is worth 5 points
must be completed by the due date
5) PAYCHECKS:
- If the student does all of the work for approximately two weeks or 10 homework assignments, i.e., being prepared with a sharpened pencil, notebook, homework, signed progress report, and good behavior, the student will get a paycheck. The paycheck is a free homework pass to be used at any time. It gives the students a goal to achieve and a reward for a job well done. Unused paychecks can turn into bonus points at the end of the quarter. They are worth 3 points each.
6) Participation is a must!
7) If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the middle school 570-674-7243. My schedule varies, so please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I am able. I can best be contacted by e-mail at: wnardone@dsdhs.com.
Please sign and return the portion of this letter indicating that you have read and understand the procedures.
Thank you,
Mrs. Wynn Nardone
