Bio:

Mr. Tom Bassett is from northeast PA and is an alumnus from the Wilkes-Barre Area school District and Lake-Lehman School District. He is a graduate from Clarks Summit University with a bachelor's degree in Music Education, Kutztown University with a master's degree in Music Education, Kutztown University with the ESL teaching certificate, and is currently completing his Doctor of Music Education degree through Liberty University and expects to finish in 2024. He has been principal clarinet with the Northern Tier Symphony since 2011 and co-principal clarinet with the North Appalachian Wind Symphony 2017-18. He has taught at the Csehy Summer School of Music from 2013-2018. He guest conducted the Luzerne County Band in March 2020 and Conducted the Northern Tier Symphony for the Spring 2022 season. He won the PMEA composition contest in 2021 and 2023. Mr. Bassett was elected as PMEA Vice President for District 9, a role which will last until 2027.

Mr. Bassett has composed over 100 pieces of music many of which can be found on his youtube page as either an electronic or live recording. He has taught at Dallas since Fall 2016. He was previously the High School Band Director and Marching Band Director until he became the middle school band director in the fall of 2021.
