Dallas High School is excited to introduce our new Programs of Study being offered to our rising junior students. We are offering these 2-year programs in two areas: Accounting and Child Care Education.
Each program of study is a series of courses in a recommended sequence designed to prepare students to meet a specific career objective. These programs prepare students to enter 4-year, 2-year, or technical post-secondary programs, or in some cases, directly enter the workforce with entry-level technical skills and industry-recognized credentials.
The programs are approved by the Bureau of Career and Technical Education and are specifically designed to prepare students to meet the workforce demands of the 21st century. Students finishing each state-approved program are required to take the appropriate NOCTI exam. Based on those test scores, students can earn the PA Skills Certificate and other certifications to receive free college credits through NOCTI and the SOAR state-wide articulation program. A student can decide to discontinue the program at anytime.
Program Overview
Dallas High School believes that students enrolled in a Program of Study (POS) will acquire a solid, rigorous academic experience that successfully prepares them for a specific interest area in post-secondary education and/or workforce.
The Programs of Study provide a seamless transition by creating a framework that permits students to gain valuable training, core academic preparation, and the opportunity to earn college credit through articulation agreements while in high school. This is an investment in each student’s academic and economic future. Each one of the programs is identified as a high priority occupation for the state of Pennsylvania. DHS works closely to monitor labor and market data to assure that the programming offered meets the needs of today’s economy and beyond.
