Gifted Seminar 7&8

Seventh and eighth-grade students receiving gifted services are eligible to participate in Gifted Seminar. This ungraded course is provided as a support service, not a requirement. The purpose is two-fold. It provides learners with the opportunity to interact with like-leveled peers. Furthermore, it allows students to pursue their specific areas of interest.

Students enroll in Gifted Seminar instead of a study hall for a full year. While students may use the class period as a study hall from time to time to do regular classwork, the expectation is that they will participate in advanced opportunities. With the support of the Gifted Seminar teacher, they will complete enrichment activities provided by their regular education teachers or design projects of their own. Additionally, they will maintain a progress log to document their time. This artifact will become part of their GIEP.
