How long should it take to complete homework?
The average student should take between 40 and 50 minutes a night to complete assignments. If your child is taking over an hour to complete, have them stop and write a note. Children will not receive a consequence as long as the homework is always attempted.
Please Note- Some assignments will be given in advance. If your child waits to complete these assignments/study for tests, they will be spending more time that night to complete the assignments. This is done to encourage good study habits.
Should my child read each night?
Yes! Students are encouraged to read every night for at least 15 minutes, and are encouraged to read an AR book. AR points are set for each child, and if their goal is achieved, they will receive a reward at the end of the marking period.
Who are my child's teachers?
Students will receive a list of their teachers at the beginning of the school year.
Will study guides be given in class to prepare for tests?
YES!!! Students will receive study guides in Math. Completing and studying the guides will guarantee success in that class- most of the material on the study guide is also on the test.
How are my child's grades calculated?
In Math and Reading, we use checklists based on their chapter tests.
In Science and Social Studies, students will be scored S (Satisfactory) or U (Unsatisfactory)
