Hello, Students and Parents/Guardians

For those of you that are receiving this email and are new to SWC, WELCOME!

One of the Ontario High School graduation requirements is to complete 40 hours of Volunteer work in your community.  In order to log these hours, you must register for an Hour Republic account.  This is the platform in which you will submit the hours and have the organization and parent/guardian verify them.

Students, if you could all please register for your account ASAP that would be greatly appreciated.

You can find the link to the Hour Republic site in the External Tools box in your D2L (please do not go through Google).  I have also attached the link to a step-by-step instruction guide on how to register and add hours in Hour Republic.

If you have any questions about registering for your Hour Republic account, please feel free to see a Guidance Teacher.

Thank you,

SWC Guidance Team

Gr. 11 Post-Secondary Research Presentation

This email was sent to all Grade 11 Students and to the "Primary Email Address" as found in Aspen.

Hello Gr. 11's and Parents/Guardians.

The SWC Guidance Department was very happy to meet with our Grade 11 students this past week to teach you how to navigate post-secondary research websites. Now that you have that information, it is your responsibility to take time over the next six weeks to find out what courses you need to choose in February for your Grade 12 year.

We posted the Powerpoint Presentation in the Gr. 11 Only D2L and you can access it by clicking on the link below.

Good luck with your research!

Grade 10 Talk Tuesday Presentation

This email is being sent to all SWC Grade 10 students and to the "Primary Email Address" as found in Aspen (the school's computer system), which should be that of a parent/guardian. Students, please check with your parent/guardian to ensure that they have also received this email message. Please contact the main office if you would like to add/remove an email address. Thank you!

The SWC Guidance Team was happy to visit the Semester 1 Career classes to present "Talk Tuesday with Guidance".  We recognize that only half of our SWC Gr. 10's heard the presentation, so we will repeat the same "Talk Tuesday" at the beginning of Semester 2 in all Civics/Career classes (before you pick your courses for 2023-24).

We encourage you to look over the presentation, (link below) with your Parent/Guardians to help you "choose once and choose wisely" in February.
