How to Use Read & Write
When you reach a website that can be read using the Read & Write Tool, the puzzle piece that sits right next to your URL bar as in the image to the side, will turn purple. Click on that puzzle piece and a whole new toolbar will appear on your page.
Troubleshooting: If you can't see the puzzle piece, then:
Login into chrome by clicking on the little character icon in the top right of the browser. Sign-in with your DSBN credentials... username@students.dsbn.org and your current DSBN password.
If you aren't using Chrome, close your current browser and open Chrome instead.
To have the document read to you with Read & Write, select a section of text by highlighting it with your mouse and then choose the play button that is circled in red above. To pause or stop, select either of the alternate buttons shown below. Test out the tools by having them read the text on this page. If it works for you, you are ready to use Read & Write for your literacy activities.
You can also use Read & Write with PDFs... you can even write on top of them.
