Laura Secord Secondary School has a long tradition of excellence in academics, arts, and athletics. We are also home to the District of Niagara Academy for the Arts program or DNA Arts, which gives students unique opportunities to explore their creative side.
At Laura Secord, we believe the Arts develop students' ability to collaborate, innovate and create. Laura Secord is developing future leaders who need to have these critical skills in a global economy. There are many leadership development groups students can get involved in at Laura Secord such as JUMP Mentors, Prefects and Crew, just to name a few.
Laura Secord Secondary School has diverse programming as well as a diverse student population. Last year, students in the school's new Construction SHSM won the gold medal for Team Carpentry in the Tech Skills Provincial Challenge. Laura Secord is well known for putting on large-scale music productions like Mamma Mia!, it performed at the 2022 Canada Games and at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, and have had famous artists lead workshops for students. Laura Secord has won the PRIDE Unity Award for the hard work of its GSA and has introduced the Equity and Social Justice course in Grade 12. At Laura Secord, it is not uncommon for our star hip-hop dancers to be star athletes as well.
Over the last several years, extensive upgrades have been made to the school's fitness centre which helps athletes to train in the off-season to meet their personal goals. The school offers a wide variety of sports and has dedicated coaches who help foster a fun and competitive atmosphere.
Whatever students may be interested in, Laura Secord has something to offer. When students join the Laura Secord family, they enjoy an active, unique, incredible high school experience and become part of this school community forever!
