WELCOME DRAGONS!
We are so excited to welcome you to the Diamond Trail Dragons Family! We know you have many questions about Kindergarten at Diamond Trail.
STAGGERED START
Welcome to Kindergarten at Diamond Trail Public School!
In order to facilitate a smooth entry to school for kindergarten students, Diamond Trail Public School has chosen a "Staggered-Entry" approach.
Staggered entry allows us to welcome our SK and JK students on different days. This means we can personally greet every child and family, ask quick questions about routines and begin to get to know each other so we can plan for a successful year together.
SK students start Tuesday, September 7
JK students start Wednesday, September 8
We love to share with you all of the wonderful things that are happening with our classes and our school. Please consider following the Diamond Trail Dragons on Twitter:

DSBN Welcome to Kindergarten Guide
Your child will need:
Headphones (to use for learning programs on both the Ipad and computer)
Large backpack (needs to hold books, lunch bag, snow pants, shoes etc.)
No wheeled backpacks please.
Change of clothing in a clear, labelled ziplock bag
A pair of indoor shoes (velcro) and a pair of outdoor shoes (velcro)- no laced shoes unless your child can tie their own laces please
A lunch bag large enough to hold their lunch as well as snacks for the day
Please note:
Label everything - many students come to school with the same items (backpacks, clothes, shoes etc.) Please put your child’s name on everything!
We spend a lot of time outside throughout the year. Please ensure your child will be dressed for the weather as we will be outside rain or shine. Consider purchasing some rain boots and waterproof mittens (not mini gloves).
TRANSPORTATION
We strongly encourage all students to get into their routine right from the first day of school.
In August, Niagara Student Transportation Services (NSTS) will post specific back to school transportation arrangements for each student enrolled at the school.
Please visit www.nsts.ca and sign-in to the secure parent portal to get your child’s student transportation information. To sign-in to the portal you will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) which can be found on their report card
Changes to home, pick-up and/or drop-off addresses must be made through your child’s school. During the summer you may notify NSTS of address changes so a bus stop is available for your child to start the school year; however, NSTS is not authorized to change student address information.
Please contact your school or NSTS if you have questions regarding your child’s transportation.
MEET GRIT!
