Our intent is to provide additional support to our students during this unique time in education.

First and foremost, we hope all of our students and their families are safe, healthy and are taking care of their physical, social, and emotional well-being. Please reach out if you need extra support of any kind!

Please email your classroom teachers directly if you need to speak to them. Use the links below to request support from someone other than your classroom teacher like guidance, resource, our social worker or the administration team.

Tips For Success in Online/Distance Learning

Find a dedicated place to work.

Choose somewhere that is QUIET and with MINIMAL DISTRACTIONS.


Ensure your working area is well lit, and free from clutter.

Organize everything you need before starting your work.

Take care of your social, emotional and physical well-being.

This will help your school work go much more smoothly.

Make time to connect with loved ones, exercise and eat well.

Create a routine using a Daily or Weekly Planner.

Schedule in work times and breaks.

Use a timer to keep your work time chunked and manageable.

PUT YOUR PHONE ON AIRPLANE MODE!

Turn all other screens off.

Use it as motivation:
If I get _____minutes of work done, I can check my phone for_____minutes.

Ask for help when you need it.

Your teachers WANT you to be successful.

Google Extension Tools we Love

These are just a few Google extensions that we think you will find useful. All of these extensions are free to DSBN students when they are logged into Chrome using their DSBN credentials. They are all very user friendly but if you haven't used them before, take the time now to play and figure them out! As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Provides excellent reading and writing support. Has text to speech and speech to text capability in English and in French. Will read many online documents for you. You can simply use the microphone on your computer or use mic'd headphones.
