INTRODUCTION
The electric vehicle revolution is gaining momentum, transforming personal transportation and shaping a more sustainable future. But which models are leading the charge? This report delves into the monthly sales data of the top electric vehicles, providing crucial insights into consumer preferences, market trends, and the evolving landscape of this dynamic industry.
This data is mainly populated by utilizing the following sources :
-International Energy Agency's global EV data explorer
- www.ev-volumes.com
Buckle up and accelerate into the future of transportation!
Overview :
The data file contains electric vehicle (EV) sales information with each row representing a different EV model's monthly sales data.
The columns are :
EV Name: The name of the electric vehicle model
City: The city where the EV is manufactured
State: The state where the EV is manufactured
Region: The geographic region where the EV is manufactured
Price (USD): The listed price of the EV in US dollars
Sales (in thousands): The number of sales of that EV model for the month
Date: The date of the monthly sales, in the format YYYY-MM
So in summary, each row contains the EV model name, manufacturing location, price, monthly sales figure, and date for that particular model and month. The columns provide all the key details related to EV sales. The data is organized with a row for each model for each month through the year 2023.
Key Findings :
The average price of all the electric vehicles mentioned in the dataset is $48,580.
The Tesla Model 3 is the most popular electric vehicle in the dataset, with a total of more than 267,600 units sold.
The Nissan LEAF is the cheapest electric vehicle in the dataset, with a price of $28,385.
The BMW iX is the most expensive electric vehicle in the dataset, with a price of $86,445.
The electric vehicle with the lowest sales in 2023 is the Audi e-tron with a total of 27,100 units sold.
Report -
Tesla remains the top selling EV brand, with the Model 3 and Model Y leading sales in every month. Tesla sales grow steadily throughout the year. Most EV sales occur on the West Coast and East Asia regions. This indicates these regions have been faster to adopt EVs. Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Bolt EV sales hold steady as the second and third best selling models. Their sales grow gradually over the year. Lower priced models like the Bolt EV, LEAF, and Kona tend to sell better than higher priced luxury models like the BMW iX and Audi e-tron. This suggests price is still a limiting factor for mainstream EV adoption. EV sales spike in the second half of each quarter (March, June, September, December), likely due to end of quarter push for sales by manufacturers. The EV market seems to be growing quickly. Geographically, Mexico emerges as a growth market for EVs in North America based on Ford Mustang Mach-E sales.
