Our First Day of First Class!
September STEM
We have been completing some STEM challenges this month. Take a look!
Autumn Art
We have been creating lots of lovely autumnal art using materials that we have collected on a nature walk.
We are learning about houses and the different materials that are used in building. The children created a plan for their own houses and then built them using various materials.
Planting Seeds
This week in SESE we planted some cress seeds. We are experimenting wiht the plants to see what conditions are needed for growth!
Maths Week
We completed lots of activities and played some fun maths games as part of maths week!

Hamilton Trophy Winners
We were the Hamilton Trophy Winners for September. To celebrate we had a popcorn party.
Halloween
On Friday we had the 'Witches Walk' and also got to learn all about some amazing birds. We even got to pet some barn owls!
Brown Bread Making Workshop
We took part in a brown bread making workshop. It was really fun and we enjoyed trying it out with some jam and butter afterwards!
Science Week
The theme of science week this year is 'electricity'. We have been focusing on static electricity and have been carrying out some interesting experiments!
Christmas in First Class
We have had so much fun in the lead up to Christmas in first class. We had a pj and hot chocolate day, decorated gingerbread and even had a visit from Santa, all while wearing our Christmas jumpers for the week!
3D Shapes
We have been learning about 3D shapes in maths and tried making some cubes and cuboids.

In SESE we have learned about magnets and we loved exploring how magents can attract or repel each other.
Gymnastics
This month both 1st classes have come together for gymnastics in PE. We have had great fun together jumping, tumbling and rolling!
We had fun blowing bubbles and creating art pieces!
We enjoyed some yummy pancakes on Pancake Tuesday!
We really enjoyed our visit to the pond, watching the ducks and having some playtime too.
In science we were learning about solids and liquids and what better way to see the different states of matter than by making jelly!
We went on a geography trail looking out for the signs of spring. The boys and girls loved feeding the ducks, who had decided to tag along on our trail!
In April we focused on orienteering in PE.
After learning more about directions and spacial awareness we put our learning to the test with the Beebots.
In maths we have been learning about capacity and weight. We really enjoyed estimating and measuring!
Active Week was very busy with our 'Slow Bicycle Race', Marathon Madness and Try a Sports Day!
After learning about some famous bridges and their uses we decided to see if we could build some sturdy bridges of our own.
We visited W5 on our school tour and had the best day ever! We had a Fizz, Bang, Pop science workshop, explored the different levels, climbed on 'ClimbIt' and finished the day off in the Lost Planet play area.
