If you want to connect your HP wireless printer with your Wi-Fi network, you must follow the below-mentioned steps carefully. The following method is effective, easy to execute, and does not require any technician’s help.
Prepare the printer for a wireless connection setup by restoring network default settings.
Most printers with a touchscreen: On the printer, select Restore Network Defaults from the Wireless, Settings , or Restore Settings menu.
For most HP printers without a control panel menu: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Wireless and Power lights blink.
For HP Envy 6000, Pro 6400, DeskJet Plus IA 6000, and 6400 All-in-One printers: Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for five seconds until the Edge lighting flashes purple. It might take several attempts before the lighting flashes.
For HP Tango printers: Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer for five seconds until the front light flashes blue.
For HP Laser (not LaserJet) printers: Press and hold the Wireless button until the Attention light blinks. The printer might restart.
Get the HP Smart app for Android, Apple iOS and iPadOS, Windows 10, and Mac to set up and use your HP printer to print, scan, copy, and to manage settings.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router if you are setting up a wireless connection.
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
Open the HP Smart app. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com/setup or your app store.
Follow the guided installation to complete the setup for your connection type.
Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel to connect your printer to your local Wi-Fi network.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
Select Wireless Setup Wizard from the Wireless, Settings, or Network Setup menu.
Select the name of your wireless network, and then enter the password to complete the connection.
Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your wireless network.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button for at least 5 seconds or until the light starts blinking. For Tango printers, press and hold the Wireless and Power buttons on the rear of the printer until the blue bar flashes.
Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins.
Wait for the light on the printer to stop blinking.
Send a print job using a direct wireless connection between your printer and an Android phone or tablet using the HP Print Service Plugin. Complete these steps while next to the printer.
On your mobile device, go to HP Print Service Plugin in the Google Store, and then make sure it is installed and up to date.
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
Open the item you want to print, and then tap Print.
On the print preview screen, select your printer with DIRECT in the name.
Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password, if prompted.
To confirm the connection, go to the printer and press OK, the blinking Wi-Fi Direct button, or the blinking Information button .
Wait for the connection to complete, and then tap Print on the print preview.
