Islington Community Hubs & Organisations

Introduction

The network map below has been created from a survey of organisations and their collaborations in Islington. Click on a white space on the map and press 'o' on your keyboard to space the map nodes and stop overlaps. View the scrollable panel on the left of the map to understand the different shapes and colours and sizes. You can search for an organisation by entering a name in the 'Search' button at the top of the mapscreen or by scrolling the list of organisations in the left-hand panel and clicking on the one you want. This will take you to that node on the map, highlight it, and display its information on the left-hand panel.

You can also filter for various Resources, Skills or Activities by clicking the black buttons at the bottom left of the map and ticking the ones you want to appear on the map. This will show only the nodes with these attributes.

Explore the map to find the information you want and to get a general sense of how it is connected and which organisations are most central.

The network map

The map consists of nodes representing organisations active in Islington. Square nodes represent members of the Octopus Community Network. Nodes with a yellow 'bullseye' provides emergency food supplies. The green links between nodes represent existing collaboration. Clicking on a node will highlight it and show its information in this panel. When a node is highlighted press '1' on the keyboard to show the nodes it is immediately connected to. Press '2' to show the connections within 2 'steps' of the selected node ... and so on.

Click on a white space on the map and then press 'o' (for overlap) to separate overlapping nodes and titles.

The geographic map

The scrollable map below is the geographic view of the network information - note that we have not added most of the location information yet. Rolling your cursor over a node will show its description. Connections are not shown as these can obscure the underlying street map.
