Spanish Assignment: Playa Verde

In this assignment I was tasked with recreating Doras's home island on a piece of paper. I named everything in Spanish and had to make sure that I had created a little bit over 20 locations.  A couple of obstacles was trying to make the map look good (I'm not the best artist) and trying to keep everything neat. I also wanted it to look like a bustling city though, so I had to balance stuff like fitting all the places on the map, including a spot for Dora and her friends' houses, making it look neat and organized but not empty, etc. I had to use my previously learned spanish skills to identify and name all the locations on the map which you are able to see here. I learnt a lot from this activity such as being able to remember places around town better and overall strengthening my vocabulary. In the end, I think I'm proud of the results.

Spanish Assignment: Libro de Recetas

In this assignment I was tasked with choosing a dish from my assigned country and teaching how to cook it with directions in Spanish. I learnt a couple things from this project. One thing I learnt was how diverse Mexico's cuisine is. I would have never known that Mexican food was more than tacos, burritos, and tortilla chips. This project opened my eyes to the lesser known but equally delicious foods of Mexican culture. Some spanish skills I had to use was mainly conjugating and cooking vocabulary. Conjugating was a big part of this project because the entire time I'm basically giving commands. This was also the main challenge of the project because I'm not super proficient in this skill. Finding a recipe that was different but not super hard to make was also a bit challenging (I didn't just want to make chicken tacos). Overall, this project was super inutituve and it stengthend my spanish skills a ton. 

Spanish assignment: Proyecto final story book

In this assignment, I was tasked with writing a 12 page book in Spanish that took place in the past tense. In this assignment, I had to display my conjugation skills and my ability to use past tense verbs plus new vocabulary. On paper it doesn't seem to difficult but considering how I not only had to develop a fully fleshed out story in a language I'm not super proficient in, I also had to conjugate the verbs I wanted to use to make it fit the past tense requirement. My story was about 3 friends that wanted brownies on a hot summer day. They go to make some but then the brownies turn into a massive monster! They end up defeating it then finally enjoying their snack. This assignment helped me develop my conjugation skills a lot and introduced me to some new vocabulary such as "el horno" which is oven in Spanish. An added bonus was that this activity was pretty fun honestly because I do enjoy writing.
