For our project, we've been working on window lights that show a message.
This is the rough draft were a lantern we planned on making. I was planning to do a Chinese style lantern.
This is my hashtag for my Empowerment light project.
Chuck D is the man i chose because he had an influence of equal rights through music.
This is the design process we've been learning all year.
After countless tries, and online orders, I was finally able to get my light to light up
These are the steps to draw an object using the horizon line and the zigzag and m were a challenge to me
First design using the horizon line and made cubes
Today our teacher introduced a new project for us.
We're going to solve the problem of having too many materials in a small space
These are the limitations of our project
we were told to choose a special word and make it 3D. I chose the word Great because it's something my dad always tells me to be.
I like how this one is able to store big things while being relatively simple.
I like how this one can hold more things including a phone.
I like how this one is complex and only has the things you really need for school/work
This is my design to start my prototype. It doesn't look that good but hey, I'm not a good drawer.
the length of the arches are 8in. The front to back is 8 1/2 inches. The width of the top is 9 1/2 inches.

the process of creating, developing and communicating abstract, concrete or visual ideas. It's the front end part of the idea management funnel and it focuses on coming up with possible solutions to perceived or actual problems and opportunities
The purpose of prototyping is to great test models using free or cheap materials. We use rough draft test models to identify areas of improvement by terms of function and aesthetics.
The purpose of evaluation and testing is to compare the project product with the list of project constraints. When you do this process, it leaves with you a plan for moving forward towards a fully functional project.
When i made my original prototype, it looked terrible, had poor craftsmanship and looked like it was rushed. It also didn't have the right number of compartments.
What i did was remake the whole thing, make it symmetrical, have dividers and nine compartments.

the process of creating, developing and communicating abstract, concrete or visual ideas. It's the front end part of the idea management funnel and it focuses on coming up with possible solutions to perceived or actual problems and opportunities. With this process, I used this time to gather my need to knows and want to knows about the constraints. I took my time to look things over and make sure I didn't miss anything. This is something I had to comeback to every time I worked on my prototype because I didn't want to get anything wrong. This led me to Research.

This process is looking wat you want to do. You want to use this time to look up how and what you should do. Once you figure that out, you can start planning out your ideas. I took this time to look up many controllers and find out how I wanted to make mine unique. I also focused on problems each of them had and thought how I would make each of them better. This led me to Idea Development.
I like the shape and unique style of this controller
I like this style cause it's something i'm used to.
I like the all button style and the shape. I like the simplicity
The purpose of idea development is to help you get your ideas down. No idea is wrong because you're just starting out. These are what help you come up with your 3D prototype. I used this process to help me jot down how I should make my controller with the constraints. I also had to make sure the controllers I made didn't look like the controllers I researched. I made 4 different designs and the picked a design I liked and made a layout of how I wanted to make it. This led me to making my prototype.
The purpose of prototyping is to great test models using free or cheap materials. We use rough draft test models to identify areas of improvement by terms of function and aesthetics. This part of the process allowed us to make a rough draft design to see if there are any kinks to get rid of or fix. I used cardboard, and cut pieces to make my controller unique. This led me to Evaluation and Testing.
The purpose of evaluation and testing is to compare the project product with the list of project constraints. When you do this process, it leaves with you a plan for moving forward towards a fully functional project. With this part of the process, I tested my buttons to see if they would work and tested them inside of the game controller. When i input the code, I had to make sure it's right and it worked. Now this leads to Production.
The goal of Production in the Design Process is to help you know market opportunities. The goal is to also define the problem clearing and make sure you have a suitable solution. With this project, I looked through what controllers were popular, and polls about which type of controllers people would buy more. Controllers with an older style is what people would buy more for the nostalgia than newer controllers. I also looked at different problems now and current controllers have which is hand holds. I wanted to make them more relaxed. I came out with a final project and my video is down below.
A video explaining my project
This school year the most challenging thing I found was my desire to keep working because I didn't feel like working somedays and the projects were long. I was able to overcome it by just keep working and push it out of my head. I didn't give up and quit. Just kept persevering through it.
The thing I most enjoyed about engineering this school year was the window light. I loved it because It pushed me past my limits pf creativity and it was a real challenging project for me. I had to get new wires and a new Arduino in order to complete the project. When I finished it, it was already a day after 1st semester ended but I was able to finish it correctly.
My feedback is that you were a great teacher, but the class coming next up(2025) is going to be trouble. I feel like they will need more hands on projects. Overall the class was fun and my peers were amazing.
