During this project we made a battle rocket to learn about projectile motion. Projectile motion is the motion of something projected in the air, using only the acceleration of gravity.
For our design, we used two wings and a coned top. The cone top makes the bottle more aerodynamic due to the smooth surface. This allows it to fly higher and faster. The wings allow the bottle to float, thus increasing the time its in the air. These two design features allow the bottle to fly high and for a long time.
When we finished making our rocket, we launched it
We calculated the velocity of our rocket with our prior knowledge and measurements taken during the launch. by using this calculation final position=(initial velocity) x (time) – (0.5)(32)(time)^(2). since our time was 3 and our final position was 15 yards, we determined our velocity to be 149.56 meters per second.
