In geometry I applied transformations by designing a video game with 3 levels. After designing my video game, I turned the video game into an animation. The goal of my game was to try to get to the destination with objects in the way. In order to complete my game, translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations had to be used. It was important throughout the process that we remembered the differences for each transformation. The differences between the transformations are when rotating i was making turns. When I use reflections I made my superhero turn around. Last I use translation to move foward and backwards.
Stain Glass
In World History I learned about religion and the history of stained glass. The history of stained glass began in Ancient Mesopotamia. Stained-glass is windows in churches and monasteries in Britain and can be found as early as the 7th century. They were imported by workmen from France to glaze the windows of the monastery of St Peter. Stained glass was used in buildings during the renaissance period. Stained glass gained recognition from Christianity. In Geometry I learned about the properties of parallelograms and used the properties to design a piece of stained glass. The inspiration for my stained glass was to create a stain glass like Islam.. The shapes I included in my design were triangles, squares, rectangles, and rhombus. I made sure that my parallelograms abided by the properties of parallelograms which are opposite sides are parallel, opposite sides are congruent, consecutive angles are supplementary, diagonals bisect each other.
Sector Area and Arc Length Activity
For this activity we were given a cookie and had to find the sector area and arc length. We had to find the circumference of the cookie and also find the diameter of the cookie. We also had to find the angle measure of each sector's central angle. The total area of the four sectors of my cookie was 50 cm. My cookie did not add to the circumference of my cookie because each area length was different. Some arc length was small and the others were big. The 4 sector areas should add to the area of my circle because they are all sectors of my circle. Meanwhile they did not add to the circumference of my circle.
