Introduction

In our Shaping Our World Project, we used ELA tools to create a video narrative set in or based on our respective Ancient Civilization.

GRAPES

The GRAPES chart was the first stage of our research for Ancient China. We wrote things like Chinas government and economics in Ancient times. This gave us more knowledge on our subject and inspired us to do Ancient China justice in our film.

Plot Diagram

In this plot diagram, our group showcases knowledge of the elements involved in classic storytelling. This is part of our brainstorming process where we write our rising action, climax, etc.

SCAMPER Chart

The SCAMPER chart is another brainstorming tool that my group used to create ideas for our story. It is an excercise that involves taking preixisting elements of China, and altering them to create something new, and something we can build a story on.

Final Script Shaping Our World: Script Template

Script

This is our finished script, one of the last tasks our group completed before filming. In this script, we outlined dialogue, character actions, narrations, and settings.

Ancient China Video

In this video, we tell our version of the story of Wu Zetian. She was the first and last female empress of China. In our story, she kills her husband to become empress dowager, and exiles her son to become the empress. Before greed came into her heart, she was a young girl who only wished to provide for her parents. When a wealthy emperor comes to take her hand in marriage, however, she sees the chance to be more than just the emperor's wife.
