Elements are pure substances made up of atom(s) for example Lithium, Carbon, Oxygen. We also learned about Alkali metals are never found pure in nature they're reactive, Alkaline Earth Metals have 2 valance electrons and are too reactive, Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity, Transition metals is the largest group on the periodic table, Metalloids are properties of both metals and nonmetals, Nonmetals are poor conductors of heat and electricity Sulfur is a nonmetal, Halogens have 7 valance electrons, Noble gases have 8 valance electrons and their only found in pure nature. Valance electrons are electrons located in the outer shell of an atom. There are 18 groups and 7 periods. Groups are also called families because they have similar properties. Atoms are made are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons these make up the mass number, atomic number and the element. In art we learned about Diagonal lines and that they are essential in dynamic composition, we learned about how light and dark make value basically it make contrast, we learned about vanishing point it is where things disappear it is related to two dimension art. I work hard on my project tried my best, I learned more about metalloids and how they bond and don't bond with other elements.
In World Lit, we made our book covers for our book were writing, The name of my book is Broken Revenge and its about a couple, Kelsey and John and through the story Kelsey starts to abuse John mentally and physically. I really enjoyed making my book cover. The hard part about making a book cover is you have to make your book cover stand out in the crowd, so you have to find things to say to draw in an audience but, once I figured out what to say on my book cover I loved my book cover.
In World History we learned about "The Colombian Exchange" which was a period of cultural and biological exchanges between the New and Old Worlds that exchanged plants, animals, and diseases. We cooked using some of the things from the Western & Eastern Hemisphere like chicken, potatoes, rice, wheat, squash, and peppers. I was a very fun experiment and we learned a lot about how the diseases transferred which was mainly through the things they were trading especially foods.
In Art class, we learned a lot of different techniques to create things like weaving, knotting, & looming . I love weaving it's really easy once you get how to do it to me knotting was the hardest because you its a lot of steps when your knotting and when you mess up you have to start over so that the knotting looks right. I love looming to I decided to make a scarf and it was really fun learning the different techniques we learned.
We started learning about nature before we left school for E-Learning and recently we had to do a project picking a Spanish speaking country and describe their weather in the different seasons, I chose Dominican Republic and I actually learned a lot with doing this project, I learned that the Dominican Republic is considered "the endless summer" because it barely get cold but I also learned that with all that heat and water comes with disasters like flood, tropical storms, heat waves and more. I really had fun learning about nature and learning how to explain what the weather is like to someone in Spanish.
For the cloud cites artwork piece we had to complete, I decided to draw something that I learned in chemistry and I chose to draw a balloon when it is placed in cold water and when it’s taken out of cold water, in chemistry we learned about Charles law which states that the volume of a gas at constant pressure is directly proportional to the absolute temperature. As you can see the balloon was filled with air and then I placed it into a bowl I didn’t change the amount of air (gas) once I put it into the bowl with means that the air inside of the bowl was constant and then by me placing it into cold water(temperature) it affect the size (volume) of the balloon, and this relates to charles law because the air (GAS) was at an constant pressure because I didn’t add or remove any air out of the balloon, I placed it into the cold water (temp) which is what cause the size (volume) of the balloon to go down because the volume is directly proportional to its temperature. I like my drawing it really shows exactly was I was trying to prove
For our chemvas cooks project me and my group decided to make hamburgers which we called hectic heartbreaking hamburgers. We first had to write out our recipe then we had to find the pure substances and the mixtures and then we got to create Ceramics for our table and we made black hearts with two H's on them. After that we created a mini drawing for how I table would look and then we learn the chemistry behind the things we were planning on using to make our hamburgers where we learned that Stainless Steel is made of Ceramic & stainless steel, the properties are high and low temperature resistance, and high strength. I had fun doing this project though we had some hard times I really had fun but I would've loved for our project to had been completely done but it was still a great experience and really fun activity to bring chemistry and art to the real world.
