During my freshman year, we studied a class called GeoTech. This is a combined class in which we learn and study Geography and Technology.
We have worked on various projects through the year, prior to it being the biggest class we had. One of those projects that we started off with, was working with a website named Scratch. This is a cite practically used for coding. This was a project we had for creating games and using that to teach others interesting facts about the world and it's feature. This is an example of the combination between coding as technology and teach people about Geography.

Another project we presented in the GeoTech was about App Designing. This turned out to be a group project. During this project, we tried to designed an app that other people would like to use. If people were to like it, they was pay us a good amount to money to release out app. The app that we came to design was named Symphony Beat Studios (Or SSB for short). This app allows you to design and create your own music to ur liking from scratch. It you would to learn more about our app, we created a slide (on your right) to show you how it works, with a bit of our classwork added.
Throughout my 9th grade year in Literature, we have read an interesting book called "Purple Hibiscus" by Chimamanda Adichie. This is a book about the promise of freedom; about the blurred lines between childhood and adulthood; between love and hatred; between the old goods and the new.
It takes place in Africa of the country of Nigeria. A young 15-year old girl named Kambili, lives in a rich, religious family home, in Enugu, under the restricting control of her father. When Nigeria begins to falls under the power of the military coup, Kambili and her brother, Jaja, are sent away to another place named Abby (a much poorer town) to stay in with their aunt for a while. They soon discover that their house is noisy and full of laughter. There, Kambili and her brother, Jaja, see a life and love beyond the confines of their father’s authority. The visit will lift the silence from their worlds and, in time, give rise to devotion and defiance that reveal themselves in profound and unexpected ways.
I really like this book! I believe it's honestly a great book, perhaps one of the best books, in school, I ever read so far. I never had much of a struggle reading it. I also think others who will find this book would also really enjoy reading it as I have. The story brings out much emotion & attracts you to read more.
These two stories above are my short story assignments. Though out teacher told us just to write one short story, I decided to write two of them. As you can see, I titled my first story, "Telephone" and named the second one, "Leo & Oscar".
To recap basis of the two stories, "Telephone" is a story about this girl named Roxy, who went by what she saw in a situation. Oblivious of what really happened, she stated her own perspective about the story. This lead to an entire rumor that quickly spread around the school. Once the news gets out, Roxy now hears the information she's been receiving from her other peers as very different & not true, she get nervous & tries to find a solution to the problem before it got any worse.
The second story is called "Leo & Oscar". Its about a cat & dog that are best friends, but secretly envy each other throughout the story. Both the cat & dog obtain skills that the other doesn't posses, and they are amazed by each other's ability to do cool things. Coincidentally, they enter a forest during the full moon with the superstition that all sorts of crazy things can happen there. It gets out that they always wanted to be like each other, so they get cursed by a witch & switch bodies. They are happy at first, but the fun didn't last for long. They began to face the struggles they had on a daily basis. Soon they grew tired and couldn't handle their issues anymore. Now they must find a to reverse the curse in time to restore themselves in their own bodies.
I decided to present these assignments to show the fact that at times I enjoy writing (but not all the time, mostly when necessary). When writing, I am kind of able to express myself and teach other about myself. I enjoy moving people emotionally and involve interesting lessons about things that are modern or creates the most impact.
In my Algebra class, this is often the assignment our teacher gives us for homework. This website is called IXL. The website is not only just used for Math. Language Arts & Spanish are also included.
How IXL often looks and works often starts with the grade levels on the left side of the screen. The letters represent the grade levels starting from Pre-K through Collage . An upgrade in the website changed the numbers of the grades into letter instead, so the letter of our class, moreover our grade, is Level K, which stands for 9th grade.
Within each grade, has lessons underneath each section. When on a lesson the teacher assigns, when have a "Smart Score" to keep track of the grade we have currently. Sometimes the lessons we have on IXL can be really frustrating & stressful to complete & reach the score of 100. The grade drops significantly when you answer a question incorrectly, and would only raise 2 points when one get an answer correct. Its mainly effective when your grade hits the 90's, so people would often stop to at an 80 or higher to prevent further damage to their score.
In Physics class, We always start our day with daily warm ups to help us retain previous information we learned from last class.
One of the projects we have been working on was called a tiny house project. We were given a partner to work with, and my partner is named Zauria Hare. Our mission was to create three different types of circuits within our tiny house. We have worked on constructing a group of a series, parallel, & complex circuits.
~how did it work out?
~ What were the challenges being faced?
Hola, Beivenido a Espanol Uno (Hi Welcome to Spanish 1)! When entering a class filled entirely in another language, it feels like you have entered a whole new different world of culture. Since I started classes in Spanish, I have always began to like them. Speaking another language feels so cool. Due to my motivation, it has help me improve & maintaining a very good grade on it. I felt that I was doing well enough, that I could possibly be good enough to already move onward to Spanish 2. Not to brag honestly, but I happen to be the top knowledgeable Spanish student in my class. I began studying & taking classes since seventh grade & progressed since then. So I feel that I'm already ahead of what i'm being taught.
In Spanish 1, our teacher would let us use a website called Duolingo. Duolingo is a great site to further progress and boost one's skills in language, and Spanish of course is one of them. Duolingo works by splitting up certain aspects of the language into lessons that one learns at a time. It starts with the basics of Spanish as you learn simple words and phrases, and you gradually progress into more complex sentences. The website is quite easy learning from and tries to keep frustration to a minimum. It helps students develope a literacy in the language. Though Duolingo can be a bit tedious at times, it provides pictures to match the words being giving and allows you to speak and listen to how words are being spoken.
On some days in class, our teacher may assign us mini projects to present to our peers. we have worked on several projects over the course which helped educate us more on how to communicate in Spanish better & learn more about the Hispanic culture. One of our projects presented consisted of a presentation we did on a Spanish speaking country. My partner, Kashawn, and I were assigned the country Puerto Rico. We had to inform our peers on the common aspects of the country in Spanish. Those included things such as the average weather, clothes, physical features, & the food eaten around the country.
