Poster Design Competition: The Spanish-Speaking World

Create a digital poster dedicated to one of the countries that are members of the Spanish-speaking world.

Your poster must include the name of the country and the names and pictures of at least the following items:

Map
Flag
Capital city (name and picture)
National bird
National flower
National dish

Guidelines:

Be neat, creative, and organized.
Use the elements and principles of design you studied in your Visual Arts class.
Remember that any words displayed on the poster must be large enough to be read from a distance.
Your classmates will vote for the best three posters. These chosen posters will be printed and displayed in the hall.
The winners of this competition will be invited to a pizza party: Classroom A213 @ 11: 30 am on Fr., Oct 10/ 2025.
Your participation is required.

Mask-Making Instructions (Easy and fun)

Materials

Mask template (printed on cardstock)
Scissors
Pencil and eraser
Glue or tape
Elastic band or ribbon (to wear the mask)
Paints, markers, or colored pencils
Tissue paper flowers, sequins, glitter, buttons, lace (optional)

Steps

Print the mask template on cardstock or glue it onto thicker paper.

Cut out the shape of the mask and the eye holes. Ask for help if needed.

Paint or color the base (white, black, or light color).

Add traditional Day of the Dead designs — flowers, hearts, dots, swirls, and symmetrical patterns.

Glue on decorations like paper flowers, sequins, or lace around the eyes.

Punch a hole on each side and attach elastic or ribbon to fit your head.

Try it on and take a photo for the class display!

Design Ideas

Traditional skull: white base, flower eyes, heart-shaped nose, teeth details.
La Catrina style: elegant design with large flowers and bright colors.
Animal mask: combine Day of the Dead patterns with an animal shape (bat, cat, etc.).

Proyecto: “Mis 4 estaciones.”

✍️ Instructions:

Your poster must have the title “Las estaciones” written in large, readable letters that can be seen from a distance.
For each season (spring, summer, fall, winter) you must include:
- The three months that belong to that season
- What you like to wear during that season
- Two activities you like to do during that season
- Sentences must be complete, written in Spanish, and must match your visuals
Use the elements and principles of design you’re learning in art class to make your poster visually appealing and balanced.
Present your poster orally in class in Spanish.
Record a video of your presentation and upload it to your digital portfolio along with:
- A photo of your poster
- The document with project instructions

Proyecto "Me Visto y Soy"

Project Title: “Me visto. Y soy.” - Theme: Self-Expression Through Dressing / La autoexpresión a través de la ropa.

You will put together and wear an outfit for a special formal occasion — for example, a job interview, a wedding, a church event, a prom, etc. The outfit you choose should express your physical appearance and personality.

You will present this outfit in class. During your presentation, you will describe and explain — in Spanish — the choices you made and how they relate to the occasion.

The clothing and accessories used in your outfit may be original pieces made by you or items you selected and purchased. You will record a video of your final presentation, where you describe and explain your outfit and how it reflects who you are as a person attending this specific event.

📂 Portfolio Documentation (Separate Grade)

This project must also be fully documented in your Spanish portfolio. Your portfolio entry must include:

Instructions
A photo of you wearing the final outfit.
A video of your oral presentation in Spanish.
A written reflection in Spanish describing your outfit and explaining how it reflects your physical appearance and personality in the context of the chosen event.

To use vocabulary related to clothing, colors, and occasions.
To describe and express aspects of one’s identity in Spanish.
To apply grammar concepts such as adjective-noun agreement, and the verb SER present tense conjugation.
To build confidence in public speaking and video presentation skills in the target language.
To develop reflective writing in Spanish connecting language with self-expression.
