This was a cube I made out of cardboard. I knew how to make it because we made a sheet with all of the measurements.
This design is unique because it's an organizer with a lamp in it.
It has elements of Form, Texture, and Space.
This design is unique and unusual because it's separate parts makes it unusual but artistic in design.
It has elements of Form and Space.
This idea branched from the second organizer I found. I found the spaced out format unusual but I still liked it. I decided to go from that with my design.
This is my idea I started with but with the added info I received during class. I also have the measurements listed. I was able to fully visualize it by putting it into 3D view.
I thought the second model I found in my research looked nice so I chose to base it off of itself. After doing so I proceeded to make it because I had the measurements. In the image it is the same picture as last time because I drew it in frontal order and there were no changes.
I designed these with Form and Shape in mind while also thinking about how it would need to go together. I was able to get a general understanding of what it would look like on the wall by compiling it together on the third image. I used the things we talked about in class to add to the designs so that they would work such as having the cord be able to plug in and having a secret compartment.
I believe that the cardboard cube assignment in the beginning helped me with this because I had a beginners understanding of cardboard crafting. In the third image I pulled out the secret compartment so that it could be shown. During the classes I incorporated what we were talking about into thought to adjust my design.
My items helped me in the designing of my project by showing me what was going in the organizer so I was able to make it and measure it with them in mind.
A problem that I ran into was with the weight of some of the items such as the items in the hidden compartment. I designed it with weight supporting in mind by making it's form first then making a tray to go in it. By making the form of it first I was able to eliminate the breaking chance.
Write 2 paragraphs (10 sentences) minimum about your project and how you used the design process to make decisions on your project specifically. Include at least 1 sentence about each step of the process, excluding evaluation. Also write about how you used an element and principle of design in your work. Give a final critique that includes what you enjoyed about the design, what was challenging in the process, and what would you change, if anything.
Other questions you can think about in this section:
Why did you choose the shape that you did for the organizer?
Did you do anything interesting with the material for this project?
Did anything inspire you to do this design before you did any research?
Did you use more than one piece of feedback to alter your design? What was it and why?
